My painting involves blending color, line, form and figures to produce an original sense of esthetic engagement. It entails a deep respect for the formal elements of art incorporated in a process allowing figural and chromatic themes to merge and emerge as a “language” which allows each work of art to cohere in its own way. With a primary aim to engage the viewer both viscerally and intellectually, a variety of art works and experiences guide me. Of late the Eastern tradition has increasingly influenced me, resulting in a blending of non-Western elements with those which are more culturally traditional. I hope this has resulted in works with a spiritual dimension that may deepen the impulse for visual exploration while abetting a sense of discovery. Over the years I have arrived at methods of composition I feel helps me produce work which can fully engage the viewer in this manner.
